Planning for long term care

With October being Long Term Care Planning Month, the Administration on Aging's (part of the U. S. Dept. of Health & Human Services) LongTermCare.gov website is a great starting point to get answers to questions such as:

  • What is long-term care?
  • Who needs care?
  • How much care will I need?
  • Who will provide my care?
  • Where can I receive care?
  • Who pays for long-term care?

Find out what is covered by Medicaid/Medicare, where you should consider living, what to consider when planning for you and your family as well as costs (and how to pay).

The site even includes a handy map that shows the cost of care state-by-state, with costs broken down by type of care (click here for Virginia).

If you prefer something to check out from the library, simply do a keyword search in our online catalog for "long term care."
