Update 2/11/2013: 1040A instructions have arrived! Still waiting on 1040 instructions...
Update 2/6/2013: All of the forms and instructions (including Publication 17) are revised and available on the IRS website. The library has received all of the 1040 forms...1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and 1040NR. We have also received Schedule A, B, C and D. We have NOT received the 1040 instruction booklets, however. The ETA is still unknown, as it is the last item to be printed/shipped by the IRS. Library staff puts everything we have out in the carousel located near the 2nd floor (adult level) stairwell as soon as they arrive. Please call the adult reference desk at 422-8500, ext. 6862 to confirm we have the forms before you make the trip.

Beginning in February elderly and low-income residents may make appointments to meet a volunteer from the Foundation for Tax Assistance at any library branch; volunteers will help eligible patrons complete the filing of their 2012 tax returns. Call (540) 422-8465 to make an appointment.

Library staff empathizes with patrons who have been upset due to the lack of paper forms available at our three branches. The IRS has been delayed with revisions/delivery to the library and other local distribution centers due to ongoing budget negotiations/uncertainty.
ReplyDeleteOn the IRS website, all the 1040 forms/instructions have been revised except for the 1040 instructions. Patrons can print the tax forms from the website from home, or they can pay us the $.15 per page to print the forms for them.
The good news is that we've been told (by the IRS) that we should receive Sch. C-EZ and Sch. E, as well as 1040 EZ instructions, within the next couple of weeks.
