UK Oil Paintings -- Now Online

Annabel by Lucian Freud
The United Kingdom’s entire collection of oil paintings (almost 212 thousand!) in public ownership are now available online for viewing at Your Paintings. You can take a guided tour or search for paintings by artist or what elements are in the painting itself (dogs, etc.). You can even make and share your own collection of paintings. If viewing the paintings online spurs you to make a trip to the UK, the website has a list of venues where you can view the paintings in person.

Tax Forms, Assistance

The 2012 tax forms arrive in January and will be available at all library branches as they come in.While the library receives some federal tax forms and instructions to hand out to patrons for free (while supplies last), we don't receive every federal form/instruction booklet. Also, as usual, we will not get any Virginia state tax forms or instructions. Any form not available at the library will cost you $0.15 per page, to print out from the Internet. If you have a computer and a printer at home, save yourself a trip to the library and print them out (for free) at home.

Update 2/26/2013: 1040 instruction booklets have arrived!!!

Update 2/19/2013: 1040 instruction booklets are expected to arrive during the week of 2/25

Update 2/11/2013: 1040A instructions have arrived! Still waiting on 1040 instructions...

Update 2/6/2013: All of the forms and instructions (including Publication 17) are revised and available on the IRS website.  The library has received all of the 1040 forms...1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and 1040NR. We have also received Schedule A, B, C and D. We have NOT received the 1040 instruction booklets, however. The ETA is still unknown, as it is the last item to be printed/shipped by the IRS. Library staff puts everything we have out in the carousel located near the 2nd floor (adult level) stairwell as soon as they arrive. Please call the adult reference desk at 422-8500, ext. 6862 to confirm we have the forms before you make the trip.
