Smarthistory.org, part of the Khan Academy, is a free multi-media "web-book" designed as a dynamic enhancement (or even substitute) for the traditional (and expensive) art history textbook. The site includes audios and videos about works of art found in standard art history survey texts, text, still images and content that is searchable by style (i.e., "Dutch Still Life"), artist or theme, as well as a chronological listing. This site is ideal for educators who teach art history or incorporate art into their curriculum, as well as the layperson who would like to have a better understanding and appreciation of art and architecture.Monday, July 9, 2012

Thank you for posting Smarthistory.org, please let us know if there are ways we can make the site more useful for your patrons. One minor issue, the site is Smarthistory.org (you have .com instead, in your post's title). Unfortunately there is a site at .com that we have nothing to do with.
