Cinco de Mayo

Today, May 5, is Cinco de Mayo, which is Spanish for "the 5th of May." The holiday, which is a regional holiday celebrated in Mexico, commemorates the Mexican army's defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Mexico's neighbors to the north (that's us) treat the holiday much as they do St. Patrick's Day, a day to celebrate one's heritage, in this case Mexican ancestry.
